My brothers and sisters in Christ,
I have now been part of this wonderful community for six months (on Friday) and have found it a very welcoming place to be. I appreciate all of the support in many ways. I am looking forward to see how Saint Martin’s continues to be a place of hospitality, community, and a place where we can experience the reality of God together.
It looks like winter has gone, and spring is upon us:
This is a time for new life, and new possibilities.
9th September Parish Fair
The parish fair will take place at All Saint’s Church on the 9th of September. Please contact the organiser if you would like to help, or have items for donation [Natalia Yates: email@example.com; 027 825 4207]
17th September Potluck!
Directly after the service on Sunday. Invite your friends and neighbours. This is a great way to make Saint Martin’s a welcoming place to both regulars, and the wider community. This is an opportunity to show the sort of hospitality and sharing which Saint Martin, our patron, was famous for.
22nd September Ordination of Bishop elect Steven Benford
Please keep Rev. Dr. Steven Benford in your prayers as he prepares to take up the role of Bishop of Dunedin. Steven will be ordained in the Cathedral Friday, on the 22nd September at 7.30 pm. This ceremony will be followed by a supper in the Crypt of St Paul’s.
23rd September Diocesan Synod (also NZ Election day)
25th September Max and Audrey fly to the Philippines, returning 19th October.
We are flying back to the Philippines to visit family, and refresh our souls. During our absence Fr. David Crooke will be looking after the rest homes, and Fr. James, Rev Ruth , and Rev Esther will be taking the services at Saint Martin’s. If there is anything urgent, please contact the vicar Fr. Michael Wallace.
